The Living Room: Window Treatments

Ethan Allen wanted to sell us custom window treatments.  Really, really expensive window treatments.  At Home Depot we came across blinds that were similar to the Ethan Allen version, only cheaper by multiples.  They're bamboo-ish, with hints of blue/green.  They go very well with the blue walls.  We would never had thought of this approach so our designer at Ethan Allen does deserve credit.  They may not be our be all and end all window treatments.  But they're fine for now, especially at Home Depot prices.

Hi Olga~Hi Robert~
I think your woven wood shades look great and will certainly give you the privacy and light control that you’ll need in your new home. My name is Julie Morris, I head off the custom labor department for Calico Corners and I have to chime in here because I am very passionate about custom decorating and window treatments in particular. The ability to get the perfect fit alone makes a difference, but then add to that, custom fullness, quality of construction and the ability to have it any way you want down to the finest of details. We have done a lot of research recently and have learned that in many cases our custom drapery pricing actually comes in lower than many of the "better" ready-made national retailers out there and we usually come in significantly lower than Ethan Allen. When you are ready to add color or fabric to the room—give us a try. We have a wonderful selection of fabrics and treatment styles. We have three store locations in Connecticut; Avon, Wilton and Westport. And for inspiration, please visit our website calicocorners.com. We would love to help you finish decorating your home.

Good luck with your project!
Best Regards,
Julie Morris
